www.kentonline.co.uk/kent_messenger/news/2010/january/20/urban_gymnastics_ordangerous_i.aspxThoughts and opinions? I've messaged him via youtube and am awaiting a response regarding meeting up to train. I just can't help but feel that is going to impact negatively on public perception not to mention pave the way for more individuals potentially coming to serious harm due to lack of understanding and belief that they too, will be, in some way, rewarded for such actions. As someone living and training in Maidstone with a reasonable degree of experience and understanding regarding Parkour, I am always aware of how my actions can could or would be percieved. There are a great many areas that would be a delight to train in (such as Fremlins) that I avoid due to the negative publicity my potentially being seen practicing could bring down upon not just those who train in Maidstone, but the community as a whole. Even if a person were to choose to risk potential misunderstanding by training somewhere such as rooftops, care and stealth would be the obvious choice.

Yes i heard about that, but i don't think it will be something for us to worry about. In no part of that does the boy talk about parkour (even freerunning) so as long as we keep the bus jumping to a minimum then we'll be ok! I know what it's like with places that are high profile / crowded- a good time to go is at night/ sunday evenings when there aren't people around or security is scarce. nice one with contacting him though, the article says something along the lines of "channeling his talent in a proper way through real athletics," but somehow i don't think he'll be too into that. let us know if you get any response though.

In the article though it also mentions another video of him on the roof of Fremlins jumping across sections which he was asked to remove from youtube.
Obviously we understand the difference between what we do and what he does but, for those on the outside looking in that distinction may not come so easily. It is easy for actions such as these to be misconstrued by the media as we are well aware.

He's got back in contact and we have since met up to train, he's a genuinly nice guy and a natural in picking up movement.

Nice one Jon I think in most cases with things like this the best way is to try and train with the people, but not in a manner where it feels like youre telling them what they should be doing. I think its best to try and inspire, especially if the person is younger as opposed to (limited word options here) "preaching"
