Before we even take this into consideration, would this be okay to do with fundraising laws, etc?
This is my idea...
On the 16th March we all go to london for a jam and collect money from the public for Sport Relief by Tracing, freerunning and tricking.
I think if we do this we might beable to get loads of money to donate for charity and if we don't at least it would have been a good day.
My choice for London is because in london the public stop to watch Traceurs, etc and I think that we could take this to our advantage and raise money for charity.
If we do decide to do this i dont think it should be just UKM, I think we should try and get as many people as we can involved such as people from the worldwidejam and 3run forums, teams on here (you know who you are) and possibly bigger teams aswell (3run, WWJ, etc)
Also, I think that we should try some other things such as possibly selling items (have no idea what!), go in costume, etc.
The times and meeting points would probably be:
Location: London
Start: 10:00
Meet point:Shell Centre
Date: 16/03/2008 (hopefully my ankle would have fully healed by then,if not i might come to socialise, help raise money, etc)
Again though, before we even take this into consideration, would this be okay to do with fundraising laws, etc?
Please write back

Callum, leave you chairty ideas alone. Just forget about it lol. I know you want to do something for a chairty and help people but from the publics point of view that really does just sound like an opportunity to take advantage of them and gain money from their pockets.
This idea would really give the wrong idea out to people about Parkour and Tricking. Im sure some people would agree with me. But i hope you see where im coming from

I definitely see where your coming from, but i think this one is different because i thought about that idea you were going to do (the one where people were going to do flips for fun and if someone came to see just point out that were raising money for charity) and this one is similiar and it doesn't involve as much hassle except for getting people to come. i definitely see where your coming from though

Wrong idea about the one we tried to set up. Our idea was to set up a small presentation of parkour and tricking to show people in our area what is was a showing them its not a bad thing and we are not being anti-social aswell as gaining some money for charity if people would donate. You coming sittingbourne weekend?

the idea of "parkour" being demonstrated for money = homo, you can go and freerun or use just general movement or something else homo, or just do something else for charity lol and the idea has been thought of sooo many times it makes it like super homo old skool people even did red nose day once you know who you are oh and i dnt want involved with any of this, i just wanted to make a long post for some reason also i wont be training for a couple of weeks after this weekend due to intense marines training i have to do

too late notice plus im bored of southbank, plus the way you worded it callum i don't think its a good idea, i see where you're coming from but it needs more preparation and thought before anything can happen. and also, please don't use "tracing" as a verb, i've never heard anyone else use that term. try using "training" or even just moving, sometimes it the best way to describe what you do without getting into political gheyness

I'll leave the "why the hell would a self labeled traceur offer to do parkour for an audience/money" speech to someone else and instead suggest if you really want to do something to help people come up with a truly worthwhile goal/achievement and work towards it in the long term.
Then arrange sponsorship through a site such as "just giving" and ask people for support. Just look to people like jin his dad and luke (mcguire) for inspiration each who undertook a true challenge (some more challenging than others) and came through to make a difference to their chosen charities.

Dude screw the demonstration, do a sponsored run using parkour/freerunning/tricking and get people to sign and donate for charity make it something hard a distance that u really have to train for.
okay your gaining money through using parkour BUT its not published to the public and its for charity, any who would have a problem with that should pop over to africa and see the kids dieing over there and if u just say freerunning no-one will give a F***. Good Luck hope u make some good money for charity.

I just want to let some people know that parkour and charity does actually work because some people actually traced down to africa for charity. search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/results.pl?tab=av&q=parkour&recipe=all&scope=all&edition=Parkour duo walk to africa. i might do depending on how my ankle is feeling

this is what callum said, developing yourself mentally and physically to achieve something that will benefit yourself as well as hopefully gaining interest and respect from other people. it doesn't have to be strictly related to parkour, but usually something related to general fitness training works well. this walk was a good example of this, so is jin's cat crawl, and even myself when i climbed mount mulanje in malawi last year. even though i didnt get sponsored myself for the trip, my dad raised £3000 by himself for local causes. it was still an amazing experience for all of us and i think its had an effect on me both in my training and in life in general.
