I have recently started riding a motorbike and love every minute of it. Despite this I wouldn't go and do an interview about motorcycling, because I am quite honest about the fact that I still have so much to learn. I feel you're talking about something you don't yet fully understand and a lot of what you said was, in my opinion, wrong. You do come across as a bit of a victim - Your voice was fine, you didn't look abnormal in any way and apart from what you actually said you did fine during the interview. I'm almost araid to post this... I get the impression you take things far too seriously and will throw throw yourself into another mini-rant. The whole "Parkour is whatever you make it" is so wrong - Sitting on your sofa drinking bull semen is not parkour, sorry, but it's not.

Yea some innacuracy, but the intentions of the article were good, its good to have some media actually giving attention to what positive things people might think about parkour.

news agencies would take things that you say and then twist them- in this I read "you should never train parkour alone" :S
"On Tuesday, police spoke to three youngsters who were dangling off Edinburgh Road multi-storey car park in Ashford and described their stunts as “suicidal”." soundsl like some Yamakasi Dame du Lac trust exercise! (they would hold each other by their feet to show each other that they had total faith in the others' ability and strength)
as for bull semen; strength would have been needed to get the bull, nutrition is important and it would take confidence! from parkour??- my sister read your post, Ben!

Grah! Its not the fact that SHE thought it was good, it's the fact that this article will be misinterpreted by the target audience, WORRIED PARENTS!!! I personally don't think interviews can ever be a good thing 1) The person will change their behavior because its an interview and you never see their true reflections as you would if you were training with them. What you see and hear is just what the person thinks they should be like and develop a persona. 2) Interviews can very easily be misinterpreted, and its parkour which suffers. 3) They have the ability to ask ANYONE, it could've well just have been any old chav in this video. And Tyler, I don't think you've experienced parkour enough to be talking about it in such a way. I'm not sure if anyone has experienced it enough to become a voice of parkour, traceurs are humble. I do not mean to cause offense, I think you have an unhealthy obsession with videos and you are going to lose out on the full experience of parkour if all you have in your sights is the youtubed end product :/

"I think you have an unhealthy obsession with videos and you are going to lose out on the full experience of parkour if all you have in your sights is the youtubed end product :/"
- sorry but that causes much offense.... i enjoy making videos.... soo what? i train a hell of alot i hardly ever film things, things that are filmed are usually from a couple days training, I also wanted to have a career in film making, and i like making an edit product of some clips i have filmed, oh and i make videos also to show my best friends who live in portsmouth and train parkour also my progression, since they live so far away, now if you dont like the fact that i enjoy film making then well, go fu*k your self tbh, im having a hard time as it is, parkour atm is the one thing i can hold onto and enjoy people like you who i look up to and have soo much respect for HAVE NO RIGHT to look down on me soo much just because im less experienced, you know what for a matter of fact ive just lost a lot of respect for you, for me Parkour is training, meeting new people who also train and traveling to new locations to train, Videos are something i enjoy to make, ive made 3 videos infact, one in october and the 2 on my account, the otherones were made by myfriend who dosnt practice parkour but enjoys to film and edit me doing it sooo... yea ive gone on long enough.. but so far since i begun traaining and gaining experience i think theres only a handful of people that actully deserve the respect and admiration of others im not one of them neither are you...

This is after my comment on the bye thread
First off yes I though Doug came across quite harsh
This is just untrue, anyone with a days worth of training can share there experiences, what Tyler said I feel was good for limited time and pressure,
WHAT I DISAGREE WITH is stuff like this
completely unnecessary, one this is a movement forum not oh my god my life is so bad forum, It shouldn't matter what problems you have what should matter is someone disagreed with you making videos by all means stand up to that,
that's all you needed, a fair explanation. When I first started I was making videos left right and center, my mates took the mic out of me for saying FILM ME FILM ME all the time, but I didn't really care I still enjoyed making the videos, getting the views and comments as it felt good it felt rewarding. I personally feel no problem with this. I also feel that that IS different from showing off, but hey if you got it flaunt it.
Yes you are, yes he is. Everyone deserves respect
I take it this is the post that made you make the bye thread, In my honest opinion it's very childish. Get over it, he's stating his opinion everyone has opinions. You have opinions, I have opinions I've made my opinion.
Also I'm very ill with 3 different diseases was in hospital last week and have got an operation in 5 weeks BOOfu*kINGHOO no one really cares.
The point im making is this forum is for about movement training, etc. not for pointless bickering that would no way happen in real life. Tyler get over it, Doug calm down

Doug you say traceurs are humble, but i think you should do a bit of digging and have a look at some high profile traceurs thar are DEFINATELY not humble.
I also agree with rob on the experience thing, we recently discussed Jump Britain and how it was a fairly big mis representation of parkour... is that the end of the world?? not at all, it got a lot of people starting to practice a form of movement and for the most part the education of each and understanding is improving.
As far as im concerned this article could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse... I think you need to get some perspective on whats going to ruin parkour, people translating their personal opinions onto facts about how everyone should practice is one of them.
And Tyler, listen to Rob, calm it down... If you dont want to post, dont. Everyones a lot braver behind a keyboard....

its essay tiiiime...
trying to get back to the orginal post at hand.
here are some extracts from the papers
interview with liams mum (one of the guys in CM) 'the mother of one of the members from concrete motion, liam, is satisfied that parkour is safe.
there a really nice group, they are respectable of the public and they do take every care to make sure there is no damage is caused to the areas they are doing their parkour'
that made me smile. and then the person who was writing the story put a little comment which really made me smile.
'they were not get media coverage to glorify them selfs but wanted to share their saftey message'
i will say its easy to forget about parkour and start showing off. i dont know about you. but there are the occasions where your hoping somone is watching your doing somthing.
i think i make too many videos :S but i'm cutting down a bit like my smoking haha.
in referance to the name calling/ bullying stuuuuff i think lashing out is a fools choice(i'm no saint but i'm working on it) use your head, its a remarkable tool!. people are sorry now, but if you just took a deep breath and read through your posts before you clicked 'post reply', this may not have happened. perhaps.
i do remember in my first few months of this forum, i was rather agressive to people when i got negative comment. but now (i hope at least) i've matured a bit. you can allways change negative comment to somthing postive. you just need your thinking cap on.

Okay, okay like rob said, I really didn't intend to come across as harsh as I think you've read of me. I want to clear up some points, this wasn't a rant or flame the main of it was just my opinions on interviews. Tyler, I wasn't referring to you as any old chav. Dizzy is right, the interview could've been a lot worse and I was stating that it could be, had it been any other person on the street happening to be doing the same thing. The point I made about you not experiencing parkour enough, is that in my opinion nobody has experienced it enough. I don't think you can have a level which you can be a voice of parkour as ideally traceurs are humble (sorry Dizzy). The last statement, its based on what I've seen, you do talk a lot about parkour videos, you haven't shown any interest in any other sort of film making. I would love it if you expanded your film making interest into non parkour subjects but as far as I've seen you haven't. Fair enough if you want to show people what you do but do you really need three or more videos to show half a years progression? Last of all it was just my opinion. You are a great guy and you have every right to disagree with what I think but there is no need to get upset over it. If I have caused offense, I did not intend to and I am sorry
